David Gilmour delivered a live performance to an adoring audience at Rome's Circo Massimo. Throughout the night, chants of "We love you David" echoed around the historic venue, once the site of Ancient Roman chariot races, while Gilmour's signature fluid guitar tone soared through the night sky. As the band returned for the encore, fans surged towards the stage, easily bypassing the stewards' feeble efforts to contain them, just as the opening chords of "Comfortably Numb" began to play. Lasers crisscrossed the night, the crowd sang with fervor, and the band radiated joy as Gilmour, fully in his element, played the iconic guitar solos with the vigor of someone half his age. It was a poignant reminder of Gilmour's immense talent. In two weeks, the Royal Albert Hall in London is in for an unforgettable experience.
